Super Bowl History and Game Preview

We are just a couple of days away from the big match between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams. This upcoming Super Bowl will be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Rams are already listed as four-point favourites here, but the underdogs aren’t always to be counted out in these types of games. If Joe Namath and the New York Jets are able to come into the game as 18-point underdogs and still beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7, then anything is possible on a stage like... Read More

Pro Bowl week is upon us!

The Pro Bowl has had some wildly mixed reviews the past couple of years. Some believe that the game is too soft or not meaningful enough while others are just happy to see their favourite stars playing with others. Regardless of those mixed feelings, this year’s Pro Bowl should have a little more excitement behind it. Let’s dive into what we have in store this year.  The Pro Bowl format has changed drastically over the last couple of years, with different features and styles coming in and out. In 2013,... Eye on the NFL – Conference Championships Sunday

It’s going to be hard to top the divisional weekend as we move through the remainder of the playoffs. But one thing we can guarantee is that the stakes are higher this Sunday evening. The four competing teams are just 60 minutes from Super Bowl 56, but the loser will head for a long and painful offseason knowing they came up one game short. The Divisional round is the best ‘weekend’ of football all year, but, to me, this is the best day. Cincinnati Bengals (12-7) at Kansas City Chiefs... Read More

Eye on the NFL – Divisional Round Weekend

And then there were eight. Not that you will ever hear it referred to as such in the United States, but we are at the quarter-final stage of the NFL playoffs and the big guns from each conference enter the fray in the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers. With the games going largely to form on Super Wild Card Weekend, we’re set for some super-tasty matchups this Saturday and Sunday. Cincinnati Bengals (11-7) at Tennessee Titans (12-5)… Saturday, 9.30pm King Henry is returning to his throne and that... Read More

Eye on the NFL – Super Wild Card Weekend

After the craziest and most unpredictable regular season, I can ever remember covering, the NFL playoffs begin on Saturday night and I’ll be hosting all six games live from the Sky Sports studios over the weekend. Just 14 teams remain on the road to Super Bowl 56 and the action is going to be intense. Win and you move one step closer to the ultimate goal of being crowned champions of the NFL, lose and you have seven long months to think about where it all went wrong. I’ll be... Read More

Your Guide to the NFL Playoffs

The NFL regular season is over, and now the playoffs begin. But how does it all work? We share the in’s and out’s in the guide to the playoffs. Who gets a playoff spot? The league looks at which team has the best record in each conference and lists them as the number one seed. Those two teams will be handed a bye week during the Wild Card Round and will have that extra week of rest. Think of it as a reward for their hard work throughout the season.... Read More

NFL – Week 14 Preview

There are some big games on the slate in Week 14 and a few of the leading teams can book playoff spots this weekend with the Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers able to reserve their places for the postseason party. There is much to play for across the board with pretty much the entire league still alive in the playoff race. Here are three games we simply must pay attention to. Dallas Cowboys at Washington Football Team… Is the NFC East up for grabs? The Cowboys... Read More

Our Guide to Thanks Giving Football

The tradition of NFL football on Thanksgiving has been going on for decades and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. One of the first ever NFL games played on the holiday happened to be the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears in 1934. The crowd completely sold out and became a huge hit in Detroit.  That specific game ended up being fantastic to watch and hyped everybody up about the sport. The fact that the game was played on the holiday really helped it out also. The... Read More

NFL – Week 11 Preview

With Thanksgiving looming ever larger on the calendar and with the weather beginning to turn across America, it does feel like we are approaching the business end of the 2021 campaign. But, in reality, there are eight more regular season Sundays for teams to make their moves. And we are still waiting to see if anybody can separate from the pack in what has become the most crowded race to the Super Bowl that I can ever recall. Here are three key games on the slate in Week 11. Indianapolis... Read More

NFL – Week 10 Preview

We’ve just inched past the halfway point of the 2021 season and that means a variety of media organisations have been asking me for my awards and potential Super Bowl matchups. I have no idea on the Super Bowl front. In fact, I felt more confident picking teams to play in the game in August than I do now having seen everyone play at least eight games. That is crazy, but true. This race to Super Bowl 56 is wide open. Like, really wide open! Here are three Week 10... Read More

NFL – Week 8 Preview

The 2021 NFL season rolls on and there are currently 11 teams across the two conferences who have no more than two losses to their names. That suggests to me that this race to the Super Bowl is going to be fierce and unpredictable. Here are three games that should keep the ghosts and ghouls at bay on Halloween. Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts… A suddenly-big divisional game This has become a sneaky-good game because the Colts are rounding into form, winning three of their last four after an injury-hit... NFL – Week 6 Preview

Like those famous red buses. You wait ages for one London game to come along and then two hit you at once. This weekend sees the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Miami Dolphins at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and I’m hoping two struggling teams can put on a great show.  I’ll be out at the stadium in the morning but won’t be covering the game on Sky Sports NFL. But we do have a couple of crackers and that’s where I’ll start my look at contests catching my eye in Week... Read More

NFL – Week 5 Preview

The NFL is back in London. By the time that first football is kicked into the air and the Atlanta Falcons take on the New York Jets, 707 days will have passed since we last enjoyed the sport we all love in our own backyard. That game is going to take a large part of my attention heading into the weekend but will be just one of four live contests we are airing on Sky Sports NFL on Sunday. Leading with the London game, here are three contests worth your... Read More

NFL London Preview

The NFL schedule gives us a battle between the New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons during Week 5. This is a game that a lot of NFL fans will simply shy away from due to each team’s lack of success to start this new season. However, there are a ton more reasons to come check out this ball game. If everything ends up going correctly, we could even be talking about this being the game of the week!  The Jets were being labelled one of the worst teams in... Read More

NFL – Week4 Preview

Strap yourselves in and get ready for another roller coaster ride that is a week in the National Football League. The twists and turns that must leave coaches and players stressed out to the eyeballs as some of the things I love most about covering this league, especially from the Sky Sports NFL studios for more than seven hours live on Sunday nights. Here are three games that I think will serve up intriguing storylines in the coming days. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) at New England Patriots (1-2)… The Return... Read More

NFL – Week 2 Preview

With Week 1 of the NFL season serving up a great deal of high drama and a few shocks along the way, several high-profile teams have left themselves facing big games already, even though we are only just entering Week 2 of the new campaign. Here are three games that I think will serve up intriguing storylines in the coming days. Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins… A bounce-back for the Bills? As I have mentioned on various platforms and in various publications this summer, I’m a big believer in the... Read More

NFL Week 1 Preview

Each week through the 2021 NFL season I will highlight three things to look out for in the upcoming games. As we get set for the NFL’s ‘Biggest Season Ever,’ here are some major storylines and contests I will be firmly focused on during opening weekend. Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills… MVP for Josh? I’m all in on Josh Allen as a bona fide MVP candidate for the Buffalo Bills and I think he is good enough to deliver a first Super Bowl crown to one of the most passionate... Read More
